Pork industry partners

APL works with a number of industry partners and organisations to ensure a viable and successful industry, these include:

The Pork Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) aims to enhance the efficiency and cost competitiveness of the Australian pork industry, while maintaining environmentally sustainable agricultural practice allowing the efficient production of innovative pork products from enhanced grain resources and with improved feed conversion efficiency.

The Animal Genetics and Breeding Unit (AGBU) is a joint venture between New South Wales State Department of Primary Industries and the University of New England. It carries out research, development and training in the genetic improvement of livestock for the benefit of Australian agriculture.

Its achievements in pig breeding include the development of PIGBLUP based genetic services and obtaining new knowledge of the genetics of growth, carcase and meat quality traits as well
as sow reproductive performance. AGBU scientists work closely with the Australian pig industry
to improve productivity.

The purpose of the Australasian Pig Science Association (Inc.) is to provide a
forum for excellence in science related to all aspects of the pig industry.  By promoting
interaction bewtween scientists from different disciplines and from different countries,
APSA ultimately benefits the pig industry, particularly in Australia and New Zealand.
