Quality Assurance
The Australian Pork Industry Quality Assurance Program (APIQè) is the Australian pork industry's on-farm quality assurance program that enable producers to demonstrate that their on-farm practices reflect good farming practice for management, animal welfare, food safety, biosecurity and traceability.
Australian Pork Limited (APL), as the national representative body for pig producers, is the owner and managing agent of the APIQè program. APL has stewardship of the APIQè program on behalf of the industry.
It is based on managing farm risks by following Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), using the principles of Hazard Analysis and managing Critical Control Points (HACCP). APIQè provides the framework and standards by which Australian pig producers can demonstrate they are responsible farmers who care for their animals, the environment and their customers, by following safe and sustainable practices.
The APIQè requirements are scientifically-based and complement a practical piggery recording and production management system.
The APIQè vision: "Providing our customers with safe, wholesome, Australian produced pork."
