The pork industry has undertaken a proactive approach to environmental sustainability over the years and has a history of significant investments into R & D in this area. Among others, research efforts aim at continuous improvement of factor productivity, waste minimisation, pollution prevention and beneficial reuse of wastes to reduce the industry's environmental footprint.
