Crisis Management and Recovery

Porksafe is the Australian pork industry crisis management and recover plan and provides the management system guidelines for preparing, responding and recovering from an emergency situation within the Australian pork industry.

Porksafe covers domestic and international critical incidents that may affect the pork industry. Porksafe provides a mechanism to minimise the impact of an issue that may have escalated to a critical incident. It also covers communications to a broad range of stakeholders, including the media.

Report any suspicions of a serious livestock disease outbreak
Early intervention is vital in an emergency animal disease outbreak.  If you suspect a pest or disease outbreak or have seen something unusual and you are not sure whether it is an exotic pest or disease - report it!  Do not worry how insignificant it may be - small signs may be an early indication that something is wrong.

Report your suspicions of a serious livestock disease to your local government or private vet or a stock inspector - or call the Emergency Disease Watch Hotline on 1800 675 888.  The hotline operates to assist the early reporting of emergency animal diseases.

Emergency contact numbers
Report an emergency to APL on 1800 084 499 or
for an emergency disease outbreak contact the Emergency Disease Hotline on 1800 675 888.
