Australian Pork

Animal Welfare Strategy

The Australian Pork Industry Animal Welfare Strategy builds on existing pork industry practices and has been developed in tandem with the Model Code of Practice for the Welfare of Animals (Pigs). It provides a five-year plan with key strategies, associated action plans and outcomes for the management of animal welfare in the Australian pig industry. The strategy covers all issues pertinent to pig welfare including: stockmanship; transportation; supply chain through to consumers; quality assurance; research and development; and communications.
